Now, more than ever, it’s important to strive to build opportunities for success for your kids and those around you. That’s why Making Spirits Bright is taking the time to highlight our community partner Brilliant Detroit! This nonprofit started in 2016, and is dedicated to bringing vibrant, supportive environments to children and families believing that “all kids and their families should have the tools and support they need to grow – and where you live should only improve a child’s success.” Together, we’re creating opportunities for growth and access in Detroit and beyond, exemplifying a spirit of collective action and brighter futures!
Brilliant Detroit pursues its mission to create neighborhoods of success by repurposing houses into community centers that provide families with the vital resources that they need, in addition to a sense of belonging. Each of these hubs offers a range of opportunities, including things like tutoring, health and wellness programs, literacy initiatives, and family support services. This nonprofit strives to ensure that kids have all the tools they need to thrive physically, emotionally, and academically, providing a space to focus on education, health, and familial support. This commitment to accessible, community-led, and based solutions distinctly aligns with Making Spirits Bright’s mission, making them a natural partner to help uplift local communities.
Making Spirits Bright and Brilliant Detroit work together with a passion to transform Detroit communities and create opportunities for child success. Together, we partner to create events that inspire children to learn further and impassion early readers to keep reading! For example, we’ve previously partnered for joint initiatives, such as Family Literacy Nights. Each month, MSB volunteers work with Brilliant Detroit families to build their home libraries. Additionally, our partnership works to empower parents with the knowledge to support their children’s overall development. Through the connection of neighborhoods, supporting parents, and stimulating academic and social success, we are creating a measurable impact with lasting change, making a case for the power of a community.
The combination of Brilliant Detroit’s functional model to listen, partner, build, and scale with Making Spirit’s Bright’s literacy initiative creates a support network to meet a community’s needs from every angle. Brilliant Detroit’s transformation of houses into community hubs perfectly complements our ability to bring hope and resources to communities in need! Whether it’s through programming, hands-on volunteering, or direct community involvement, our organizations are consistently fostering an environment of value and support, through the amplification of each other’s strengths. And we’re looking forward to even more collaboration and engagement this year! Things like digital literacy and mentorship are further engaged pursuits, increasing familial engagement and growth while maintaining our shared goal to create an environment for children to engage with important resources to encourage resilient thriving.
The engagement of these two non-profits is proof of the power of community, and its success will continue to persist, creating hope and lasting change. However, it’s impossible to reach these goals without your support! If you’re interested in discovering how you can have a lasting impact on the community, you can get involved with Brilliant Detroit here – whether you’re looking to partner, donate, volunteer, or simply find out more, we encourage any exploration! Furthermore, you can engage with Brilliant Detroit on their socials, on Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram if you’re looking for proof of impact or want to make your voice heard! Together, we can uplift communities and families in Detroit and beyond, building a future where everyone can make an impact and shine in their contributions!
