Here at Making Spirits Bright, we know how important it is to collaborate with and support the community. That’s why we’re spotlighting all our community partners this year, starting with All Things Women. Established in 2018, this organization works to bring essential services to areas of high crime and poverty in response to the lack of programs and services there, through collaboration with local women of color. We’ve partnered with All Things Women to make sure their bookshelves are fully stocked for those in need, in pursuit of their detailed mission: to provide comprehensive housing and supportive services to women, children, and families in the State of Michigan. To provide programming that will eliminate barriers and increase opportunities for a successful transition to permanent housing.
All Things Women has laid out several avenues to seek fulfillment for their mission, detailing eight main categories of programming interest: Food, Workforce, Health, Housing, Parenting, Financial Literacy, Therapy, and Bountiful Blessings. This programming outreach takes several forms, whether it’s through workshops, support groups, career development, mentorship programs, or advocacy, they’re making sure that every person is seen, heard, and represented. In 2023 alone, they were able to support 52 families in shelter/transfer housing with a 92.4% success rate in transferring to permanent housing, in addition to donating over 15,000 units of clothing, food, or diapers and 429 coats. This incredible work is only set to grow this year, mainly due to the collaboration of partners and community members who help to build out the network of support.
The partnership between these two non-profit organizations was put in place through an alignment of goals – their pursuit of health, parenting, and bountiful blessings is perfectly situated to work in conjunction with our calling to build at-home libraries and get books into the hands of adults. Making Spirits Bright has helped their cause by donating books, partnering with Cardinal Rule Press, to inspire literary interests in young minds, and support their educational growth to help give back to the community, in addition to the continued interest and education of all ages! This is done through the free shopping trips provided through All Things Women, where people in need can come pick up essentials like food and clothes in addition to books and other recreational materials to facilitate a happy, healthy, and well-adjusted lifestyle. We’ve worked so hard as a partner with All Things Women that we were given the Distinguished Partner Award in September! And, if you’re looking for some additional literary intrigue, they have an entire page dedicated to celebrating women’s authors!
You can help too! Improving the community is done one step at a time, on a person-by-person basis, so it’s of the utmost importance to contribute in whatever way you’re able to! All Things Women has an entire page devoted to involvement, where you can find information on things like donations, volunteer opportunities, and other needs that can help meet their mission-based goals. Additionally, you can keep up with their web traffic on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok to ensure you never miss an event or opportunity for communal improvement! While you’re there, why not check out Making Spirits Bright’s socials as well, on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube! Even a follow on social media can be an important addition to the voices in support of the change that’s needed to build a better, more collective community.
How do we collaborate with All Things Women? Making Spirits Bright visits their location twice a month to stock the bookshelves for their community.
All Things Women is an incredibly important partner for us, and it’s important to understand why, and how, they’re pursuing important goals that better the community for all of us! From donations to shelters and homes to necessary support, this organization functions as an extension of the love and care of the community and would be unable to function without the support of those nearby. So, get out and take action, to ensure that both of these important non-profit organizations continue on the upward trajectory they’ve steered themselves towards.
